“I am considering IVF.”
In vitro fertilization (IVF)
Our most involved treatment, with our most attentive support.
For many diagnoses, and often after other steps, or as a first step when it fits.
IVF is the most involved treatment we offer, and for many people it offers the strongest chance of success per cycle. It is also a significant commitment of time, money, and emotion, so we make sure you understand each stage before you begin.
A cycle involves stimulating the ovaries, retrieving eggs in a short procedure, fertilizing them in our on-site laboratory, and transferring an embryo, often after genetic testing and often in a later cycle. Our embryology team and your nurse stay close through all of it.
What to expect
- 1Ovarian stimulationAbout two weeks of medication with regular monitoring to grow multiple eggs safely.
- 2Egg retrievalA short procedure under light sedation, usually with a quick recovery the same day.
- 3Fertilization and cultureOur embryologists fertilize the eggs and watch the embryos develop over several days.
- 4Transfer and beyondWe transfer an embryo, freeze any others for the future, and support you through the wait.
Good to know
- Outcomes vary considerably by age and diagnosis. Our success rates page shows illustrative figures with an honest methodology note.
- Extra healthy embryos can often be frozen, which may make a future sibling more affordable and less demanding.
- We will never push IVF if a simpler path is reasonable for you.
A typical IVF cycle ranges $12,000 to $18,000, before medication
